THE following notes on Siam have been written
by high officials in different departments of
the Government Service, and while in no way professing
to give a full description of the people and
country, each article is, as far as possible, an accurate
statement of the existing conditions. These articles
were written during 1903 and the statistics refer to
this year and years anterior to this. There being
as yet no standard for the transliteration of the
Siamese characters each author has followed his
own system.
