Cooperation is the fundamental featureof intelligent beings. It makes them ableto evolve complex social behaviors andto better resolve practical issues. Humanshave evolved a very powerful form ofcooperation, which is spread anywherein the everyday life: norms, institutions,states, hierarchies, ordinary relationships,etc., are deeply determined by theoriginal notion of cooperation. This bookaddresses the conditions of the humancooperative activities in order to focus ontheir common roots and to bring themback to an unitary origin. It is profoundlyanimated by the task of understandinghow cooperative skills are able to evolvethe plurality of the cooperative activitiesfrom the spontaneous to the institutionalones and to find a common denominatorfor joint actions. It also explores thesocial-political aspects related to jointactivities and deals with the notion ofintersubjective freedom.The AuthorGuido Seddone studied Philosophy,History and German at the Universitiesof Pisa and Vienna. He obtained a PhD inPhilosophical Studies at the University ofCagliari (2005) and a PhD in Philosophyat the University of Leipzig (2011). Heis currently a Research Fellow at theUniversity of Sassari and Visiting Scholarat the University of Leipzig.
